Cured not Cursed is a chance for Canadian youth to come together and cure leprosy!
As a team, your youth group will collect sponsors to raise enough money to cure 1, 3, or even 5 people of leprosy – set a goal! It costs just $350 to cure and care for someone of leprosy. How many lives will you change?
During your event, each participant will wear a mitt on one hand for 12 hours. Everyday tasks like tying your shoes, zipping up your coat or writing your name – they all become difficult challenges when your fingers don’t work.
Participants will feel what it must be like to live with the effects of leprosy.
What’s worse is the hands and feet are numb to pain – leprosy patients can pick up a burning pot out of the fire and feel no pain! But the flesh still burns and infections set in. Without treatment, leprosy renders its victim’s hands completely useless.
